Scarlatti

Parrot have been making melodeons since at least 1980, but this is the first time we’ve been able to persuade them to offer the D/G and B/C tunings we need. They look very similar to the Hohner Erica and Corona models, but are a bit heavier and not as well finished.

Delicia

Delicia, based in the Czech Republic, make a comprehensive range of Melodeons, including the Popular which is an ideal starter box, new Italian style models in very attractive solid cherry wood finish, and big traditional Czech style instruments with fancy inlay and shiny silvery bits! The quality is excellent, and their reeds have such a good reputation that other well known brands use them too.

Hohner

Hohner are world leaders for Melodeons and Button Accordions, and the popularity of these instruments speaks for itself. Made in Bavaria in southern Germany, their distinctive, powerful sound is sought by the top performers in all kinds of music.

Mengascini

New to the manufacture of diatonics, Mengascini are well known for their top quality piano and continental system boxes. We have just started distributing their very nice new melodeons, which all have a quick easy action, and a rich tone.

Serenellini

Serenellini make beautifully finished melodeons for us in Italy, with a very similar design to instruments sold by Saltarelle. Illustrated are a Cloud model, and a two and a half row 12 bass, in walnut finish.

Castagnari

Castagnari is a small family workshop in Italy, which produces a superb range of craftsman made instruments for us, with attractive natural wood finish, open keyboard, delicately fretted wooden grille, and the very best in reed work. Attention is paid to every detail, you simply can’t buy a better melodeon at any price.

All models have good Italian reeds, and the more expensive models have very powerful handmade reeds. We stock most models in a dry tuning (almost no tremolo), but swing, tremolo, and other variations are available to order, or we can modify stock items for you.

We offer most models from stock in D/G either with or without accidentals, and a selection in B/C, but any tuning can be supplied to order. All except the Mignon come in a deluxe hard case.

Most of the models are named after members of the Castagnari workforce and their families.

Castagnari Staff

A Castagnari Melodeon really is something special. We have tried melodeons by just about every maker in the world over the years, and we are not at all surprised that Castagnari have become recognised as the best. Right across their whole range we can unhesitatingly recommend each model.

Castagnari also produce a number of other models which we don’t always keep in stock, but they can easily be ordered. Those which Castagnari make a lot of, for other markets, take three months or so to get, but there are some which they only seem to make once or twice a year, and these can take a long time to arrive. This is a full list of the models other than our regular stock items: Jean Pierre, Roma, Fazzy, Borgo 8 & 12, Alain 8 & 12, Korry, Sessy, Marc 8 & 12, Montmartre-Wielly, Handry 18, Miky, Matty & Jacky.
