CHALUMEAU

   
Definition: Single-tube, cylindrical, single reed instrument. A seventeenth century ancestor of the clarinet, it has a recorder type body with a single reed mouthpiece. Similar folk instruments are found in many Arabic and European cultures; see Albogue, Alboka, Diplica, Hornpipe, pibgorn, and Sipsi.

2-ROW CHROMATIC MELODEONS

Two row chromatics have the rows tuned a semitone apart. The first key quoted is the lower. B/C is most common but we do sometimes have C/C# and C#/D. Chromatic tuning is normal in Ireland and popular as well in Scotland.
